I definitely had a windows share on wifi at one point. I really don't like the idea of going back to those days. If you can't do wired look into power line or coax line stuff. For a server in particular hardline is not just a preference for me but a requirement. Making everything slower and less reliable gets really old when you're moving large files, or running virtual machines.

Would love Wifi support. I can't place the nas near the router. It is wall mounted next to the appartment door. A wire to another room would be a pain in the a. Don't care about bandwith or stability. Wifi is convenient which this whole thing is about^^

It's arguments like these that just hit me right in the gut. Such a basic, but perfect argument. Ugh.  I'll see what we can do.  No promises and definitely not for 1.0.

this alone will make the hexos worth it over truenas for me, with all the other QoL stuff being the cherry on top.

found my extender. I tried it. i placed the extender about 5 feet from the router
i was able to access my smb share on my mac that is connected to my main network via wifi with no issues.
a 1.45gb file took about 2 minutes 45 seconds to upload
it took about 2:12 to retrieve that file

when directly wired to my router it took around 1:10 to upload the file
and then 18 seconds to retrieve that file

Just got repeater and it works, guess it's only one workaround for now. I think there should be hack to use USB as ethernet source as pluging my phone to share home wifi, would be more confortable for me.

i was thinking about it and if someone were to use mesh wifi, it might work slightly better than a repeater, even if they are just using wireless backhaul.
