Exodia Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Could current version of HexOS allow me to install Vaultwarden and have a personally-owned domain point to that password manager? I'm currently not an early adopted, just investigating what HexOS could provide as it currently stands right now. Thanks! Quote
0 PsychoWards Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Hey, Yes this is possible, but requires some setup. You have to manually install Vaultwarden, there is no 1 click app, and then you also have to install a reverse proxy (again no 1 click app) which is redirecting the concerned traffic to your Vaultwarden server. This does require that your subdomain is already (and always will) point to your router/proxy manager. This is not a trivial setup but it's not impossible neither and there are many guides to get this running properly and you should also read into cloudflare, fail2ban or crowdsec and other security options to protect your then exposed server/setup. Thanks @PsychoWards, from what I'm reading I'd have to setup Vaultwarden & proxy manager on the TrueNAS side of HexOS? Would those installs be done directly into TrueNAS, on a VM set up first, or in Docker? 1 Quote

Depends on what your needs are, but as apps in truenas would probably be the easiest way. Quote

Thanks again @PsychoWards! Would you consider installing TrueNAS apps as easy to setup/configure/maintain as the HexOS-curated apps? All of these video demos for HexOS apps (Plex, immich) seem pretty easy to click and install, and I'd very much like to compare the complexity of installing those apps to installing TrueNAS apps. 0 PsychoWards Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Hey @Exodia, unfortunately I cannot comment on this since I'm not using Truenas/Hexos to host my apps, maybe someone else can comment on this instead. Quote

I'm currently not an early adopted, just investigating what HexOS could provide as it currently stands right now.
Thanks!
