is there a way to run a minecraft server on a hexos

i was thinking of either

  1. buying a nas and either run mc server on it. or

  2. buying a new pc, re-purposing one of the pc's as a server.

disadvantages i see

  1. i don't know any nas/nas os that can run a java mc server.

  2. phenom server - high power consumption, motherboard only supports sata 2 (but for HDDs that might be ok) or

  • pentium server - bearly enough performance for mc server

Look into Crafty Controller, the easiest way to run a minecraft server on linux

I'd like to second the Minecraft server request. I only want to do 3 thing on my nas. Plex, a mc server, and a file server. I got mc working on my truenas server, but it was a massive pain and I don't want to do it again. (Main issue is there is no easy way to upgrade the server to a new Minecraft release)

Hi there! We certainly would like to add a bunch of game servers, but it might take a little while.

Excited to hear that adding game servers is something the team would like to add! Definitely falls into the 'nice to have' category that I wouldn't have initially expected to be on the team's radar

I was watching Techno Tim's video from Sunday Dec 1 and when he gets to the apps page at 13:40 Minecraft, MIneOS and Terraria are visible.

I can't check for myself since I'm waiting in line still, and waiting on my last piece of hardware to arrive, but I'd say it looks like Minecraft might already be implemented??

I should have finished the video, the aforementioned games will produce a pop-up that says the app isn't currently curated and must be installed and configured from the TrueNAS UI

Having integration from something like AMP from cubecoders would certainly be nice.
