How to move to new hardware?

Hello, started buying new components for a full server upgrade. The ONLY parts that will reused from current server are the m.2 boot drive, and 3 HDD. 
 

how will I go about transferring the data and OS?

 

iirc I read a while ago that you could just move the boot drive and storage to new build and it would all work fine? But I don’t know if I’m misremembering or not.
