silvioslim Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Hi everyone, I came from a Truenas scale HW made it last year. Just wanna share it in case of some suggestion. Case: chenbro SR301 Plus MB: Asus LGA 1700 mini itx CPU: i5-12400 RAM: 32Gb DDR5 5600MHz HD: 4x4Tb Iron Wolf + 1 nvme 256gb (OS res.) + 1 nvme 512gb (application data res.) LAN: external usb 3.0 2.5G Realtek How i use it? 50% Plex Server - 25% backup data - 25% owncloud and Samba Share to my windows pc Any advice? Excepted Lan usb adapter (i know realtek chipset is stuck a little bit on 2.5g and intel 2.5g i didn't find it as external adapter) what you will improve? Quote
Dylan Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Other than potentially your LAN, looks like a good home build. I have a similar rig just less RAM and CPU is not that powerful (16GB and Intel N100). Good luck! Quote
Flyboy Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 oh, I like it, though I dont really know specifics. I am looking for hardware myself, did you build this new or repurpose it from other sources? Also any idea on what your total cost ended up being? Quote
Clixxi Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 i just ordered a small NAS with a N100 for the family. Its also available with a stronger risen cpu but it can't transcode as well as the N100 (up to 4 4k streams) https://aoostar.com/collections/mini-gaming-pc/products/aoostar-n9e-intel-n100-mini-pc4c-4t-up-to-3-4ghz-with-w11-home-8-16gb-ddr4-3200mhz-ram-256-512gb-m-2-2280-nvme-ssd?variant=48813283377450 4 minutes ago, Flyboy said: oh, I like it, though I dont really know specifics. You can also just build your own NAS to satisfy your use cases Quote

Scorpio Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 I plan on using a 2014 Mac Mini that has 8GB Ram, 1TB HDD and a NVME that I'm not sure how much is on it but I plan to test HexOS on it. Quote
