@Erik Andersen I suspect (but do not know for certain) that this is to prevent a spammer from skewing post upvotes causing threads to appear more engaging or helpful than they might organically be.

Agreed but if you're reading topics and getting good information you should be able to like that, the system knows if a user is clicking or something else is I would hope. Not a big deal but I feel bad if I get good advice and I can't give them a like.
