Erik Andersen Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 I feel like a simpleton for not finding this, can somebody point me to updating HexOS? Quote
2 jonp Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 It's ok. The update you're seeing right now is 24.10.0.2. .1 and .2 are both hotfix-class releases with minor fixes for specific issues as documented here: https://forums.truenas.com/t/read-notice-truenas-scale-24-10-0-1-and-24-04-2-4-are-now-available/23413 https://forums.truenas.com/t/truenas-scale-24-10-0-2-and-24-04-2-5-are-now-available/23664 Updating to these shouldn't cause any issues with HexOS, but generally speaking, we do not want users updating using the SCALE UI. When you do, we won't provide direct support for issues. All of this said, it is our fault for the current confusion about updates because of how notifications work in the UI today. We pass through notifications directly from SCALE in the current beta, but in the future, we will parse out update notifications in HexOS in favor or our own mechanism. This is one of my shortlist items for improvement in the next HexOS beta update, which as a reminder, does not require you to download anything to your server. Quote
1 Joe4evr Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 But you're not supposed to install OS updates that aren't pushed by HexOS itself. Quote
0 Joe4evr Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 There has not been an update for HexOS yet. Just wait, I'm sure the devs are busy enough as it is. 1 Quote

Currently helps does not have an update for the system to my knowledge. that does not mean HexOS has not had any updates yet, because it has. Since HexOS is cloud based they can update HexOS with out effects of of an update on the system like a restart. if I am remembering correctly, HexOS put out that they recommend waiting till HexOS notification is there to update trueness and not to update in the truenas UI. that could be old news but I read it on one of the post like 2 days ago. 1 Quote

I installed the TrueNas update, I can't see what harm there would be in that, they apparently don't either but it's not supported, I'm good with that. 🙂 Quote

0 André Scala Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 I was just looking for a answer for this to. Simple enought, don't do it until hexos come with that. Thanks Quote

We won't be able to tell if any bugs will be caused by it especially since hexos beta is pretty finicky with what it wants and going around that via truenas causes mild to severe bugs Quote

Interesting, so when would an update require us to manually perform the update? Quote

0 Thedoh Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 So I am wondering if they mean the picture I have attached? It says HexOS has a system update, or does this mean TrueNas has an update? Then also, I don't see anywhere for a place to update immich, are these things all auto updated??? I'm new to all of this as well. Quote
