DaveHemm72 Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Is there a best practice on identifying each drive in array ? - planning for drive failures - don't want to be guessing which one will be needing replacing when the time comes. During beta, I'll probably only have a few small HDDs internally on designated machine just getting used to the system; later will probably use some 5 bay icydocks that have been sitting idle for many years, put in my Antec 1200 tower case which I have hoarded for a project like this. Would ideally be able to identify drives as i insert a drive at a time so I can label them for future reference. Quote
Dylan Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Looks like the interface will have the ability to show the drive SN. 1 Quote
michrech Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 The case I'm using (a Silverstone CS380) uses drive trays, and these trays have a nice flat spot on the front where I put some painters tape. I write the last few digits of the drive SN on that tape so I can identify the drives without having to power down / remove each one. 🙂 Quote
