boop Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 (edited) I recently had an issue where my network switch was limiting my upload speed to 100mbps. It would be great to have a tool, sort of like speed test for testing internet speeds, but to test things like network speed, read/write speed for all the drives, etc. This would be especially helpful in the setup phase when you're choosing your configuration if it could give you that extra information about how fast your networking and drives actually are. And it would also be nice in situations like mine where I could see that the network was only downloading 100gbps, but I didn't know if that was my nas, the computer it was uploading from, etc. Edited December 9, 2024 by boop 1 Quote
Antz Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 Hi @boop. To add onto your idea, it would be nice to have a benchmarking app of sort to stress test the system. Then after the app is completed, it could make suggestions on what to improve, locating bottlenecks, or steps to fix system crashes. I've known I've had an issue with my system for a while because it crashes and I only recently figured it out. I have 2 CPU slots on my server, and I couldn't figure out what the issue was until I connected to the server via DisplayPort and found out that the system was trying to use CPU 1 when there was no CPU installed into CPU 1. So a log that is easily accessible would be nice to have, so that next time the system boots up and is able to be connected, the source of the issue can be isolated more easily. Quote
