martyf81 Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Can HexOS be installed to the SD Card Module inside the Dell Power Edge servers? I have 2 x 64GB SD Cards in my R630 that I typically install OS to so I am not wasting a drive bay. Will that be possible/effective for HexOS? I feel like it is, but the FAQ says SSD boot device. If it is you should consider putting logs directory on different storage, depending on your utilization, heavy log writes will kill SD cards quick. 1 Quote
marvin.the.robot Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 I'll have one of these to test once I get access if you haven't yet purchased a licence. I'll let you know how I go with it. Quote
marvin.the.robot Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Could not get my Dell PowerEdge R530 to detect the 32Gb microSD card (with adaptor) I have to test this out. Most likely a fault with my server and not the HexOS as I'm not able to detect the SD card in the Bios under vFlash either. Will keep you updated if I find a fix for this. Quote
Jor Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 I actually got HexOs installed on and booting from an SD card, it was actually super easy. Must be down to the hardware not supporting it. Quote

marvin.the.robot Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 So I managed to get the SD card to detect, but I can only make 4Gb partitions on it via the bios/iDrac, so not very useful in my case. Maybe it would work if I had the dual SD card slot and not just the iDrac SD card slot. Quote
