Adding additional Sata ports and power

I was wondering if I could add additional sata ports via a link pcie card. From there does anyone have a good way to power the additional hard drives as I plan on getting an optiplex that would not have enough sata power cables. Or should I go a different direction?

What sort of Optiplex? The mid and full tower versions should use regular ATX power supplies in which case you can replace the Dell OEM one with something that has more peripheral power should you need it.

I would say that if you are serious about adding additional drives to get a desktop case that can support the drives you need. If you're only running a handful then using adapters should be okay.

It's pricey but  i have a highpoint RAID card and enclosure that used to house my old hardware RAID that i have set up each drive as a JBOD to pass through to HexOS. Holds up to 8 drives and powers them in its own external unit

I can confirm that a Diyeeni 8 port SATA card bought for $50 CAD on Amazon last week works fine.  The Diyeeni name likely means nothing, and the specs of the card seem pretty generic but here they are:

The card came with a CD or DVD for firmware, but I have not used it and HexOS is currently operating smoothly with the card.
