Setup and connected in under an hour

Had a bit of an issue with the itinial install but i think that was due to a ssd failure and not the OS. Switched to a different drive and installed it seamlessly.

Super impressed so far.

Plex installed in about 10-15 minutes with 0 hard set questions. just pressed install

How lucky you are dude? I’m still waiting but PLEASE share other media. 
can you try to use a samba share and try to get it in with a windows pc, create file and delete it?

Its an ISO you flash to a USB just like most other things.

...or if you're a turbo nerd like me and have old supermicro boards with IPMI you can mount the iso virtually from the KVM software LOL

What would you like to know/ see shares work flawlessly between iOS windows and Linux, don’t have a Mac to test but I imagine it would be as easy as iOS

How easy is it to access / download docker apps that aren’t one click?

 

do we have to find the repo link manually or is there a search functionality at this stage (appreciate early days for this)

There’s a decent amount of apps that just show up however currently most except for plex and immich currently just take you to the truenas ui to configure 

 

however going to the ui I was able to install 1 or 2 apps without really any issues just leaving most default but something I’d definitely wants to mess around with eventually

Nice, thanks for the context. The moment I get in the next wave I’ll be setting up the full ARR suite, so be curious to see how seamless that goes.

Nice, looks pretty much identical to the default ones shown on TNS anyway, but looks good.

It is probably and I feel they just need to find a way to port over the required config settings once they do that I imagine it would be fairly easy for them to add steps during install of other apps that will require them that way you can stay in the HexOS ui

Install question, did the Hex UI give options for setting up cache drives? Or is that something we may need to restrict TNS for?

It didn’t but I only had 3 drives as the drive I was going to use for cache had died 😂   I believe I have another drive around so I may try again later

Damn, thats a shame, fingers crossed you get a new one soon then.
And yeah, just curious how they've done it, as i found it very confusion when setting up my 500gb m.2 as a cache drive before in TNS.

Actually found my other drive, I’m testing it now I will let you know how it goes

After testing i forgot that in this current beta there is NO custom/manual pool configuration so if the automatic wizard doesn't show it currently you cannot do it

currently no, once i move it to prod and i stop trying to break it lol i will eventually get another drive/pull one from my unused machine for that purpose, as it is a lot better for redundancy.

Yeah was curious if that was / will show up in the set up process. Or will come later down the line as part of there snapshot features. Would assume they’re mutually exclusive but who knows.
