Nooby here, I started with hexos recently so everything it still fresh. I added immich using hexos. When asked to use a storage template I choose: 2022/February/03/IMAGE_56437.jpg When I checked TrueNas it created some folders - it created some default folders in /Applications/immich/ - it created the Photos folder on the same level as Applications A smb share to the /Photos folder was created automagically for me. When I upload a photo, I do see the folders for it in this smb share on my win11 pc. \Photos\admin\2025\April\01 But there is no photo in there. To be sure I added my user to the smb ACL with full control. No luck. But when I create an smb share of /Applications/immich/uploads/ I can find the uploaded photos back, however, then the storage template is traded in for UUIDs. So instead of \Photos\admin\2025\April\01 I have to navigate to \uploads\fe8eafc3-d3c4-4bd0-89bf-49b97915ddef\38\21 I want either the photos to appear under /photos/... or have the template structure visiblue in /uploads/... Is that possible?

So I'm building my first proper nas soon and my original plan was to get a qnap ts-464 with irowolf drives and stick to the default os just because it look like the best stock os out of the options that would take the less amount of time to get up and running. Now that I have hexos lifetime the stock os and the time it takes to setup matter a lot less. which means in theory I could get the hardware from qnap, synology, or terramaster based on just who was the spec at a given price point alone. so my question is how is hoxos compatibility with qnap, synology, and terramaster of the shelf hardware? Any particular 4-6 bay hardware from any of them that I should avoid because it does not play well with hexos? Any particular 4-6 bay hardware from any of them that I should prefer because it just works with hexos? As a side question, are there any other brands I should be looking at for a 4-6 bay NAS that has a better price-to-performance ratio compared to a similar system from qnap, synology, or terramaster
