future beta group Future HexOs Beta Group (Post V1)

I want in -
Hex OS needs an SDK lol....
-
I would love for there to be a really clear layout as to what's happening/planned for the future and roughly when we can maybe expect it. I get that life's probably still a little crazy back there but it would be nice to just have a rough idea of when the features that im particularly looking forward to can be expected.

beat me to it lol didn't see your response

For your use case setting up a pool on truenas shouldn't be too difficult (using just one drive) then plex should install just fine. and you could manage it using hexos...
-
Yes, unfortunately I don't have a Master's in NAS/Filesystems and neither does the individual in question I'm guessing so we'll just bow respectfully to you and continue on our way 😉
-
Interesting, somehow i've never seen them say that, perhaps i've never dug deep enough into their docs. i've never actually tried to use it that way just for like selfhosting and so forth. but my nextcloud comment still applies, and for any media that isn't movies or tv shows right? or would they have an issue with streaming music n such?

Sweet, yeah @I.R.MaNu building a cobbled together 'millenium falcon' of a nas is sick. a lot of my stuff runs like that long term.
-
Will hexos work with that by default?
-
People want to help, there's not nearly enough young people getting into tech and home lab is where passion starts ❤️

kinda repeating what was said above, but yes... to an extent. Even with a really slick system like hexos it still will require a bit of googling and fiddling to get everything to work right (probably) and you will have some number of headaches that you wouldn't have by using a consumer cloud service like google cloud or icloud. in exchange for those headaches you will save money and your privacy. This is the offer of self hosted.

Rocketchat or some other self hosted chat server
UncleMikey replied to absolutrk's question in OS & Features
Nextcloud has a chat feature and I'm sure that will make it's way into the "One click store" sooner or later. Would love to see a 'Campfire' like OS solution that was in the one click store though... -
Trivial request but it's implementation would be appreciated...

You could also check FB marketplace... or just set it up with one drive for now and hope and pray until you can afford to buy another one
-
What size is your current one? To be clear, it sounds like you could theoretically set it up with just one drive, it's just kinda pointless...

Essentially yes... primarily because I assume hexOS is NAS software and it's claim to fame is "Sensible Defaults" that make it easy and i guess one of those assumptions is that you have more than one disk so you dont lose all your data when (not if) it dies. I'm honestly a little confused as to why you'd try to do this with HexOS? not really the intended use case p.s.. the libertarian in me says you can do what you want but the rational adult in me says don't be stupid... -\_(--)_/-

Dude sonoff through HA is a charm. Works great super easy, highly reliable. I have a bunch of sonoff plugs and a sonoff dongle for my HA and it's pretty much the least problematic part of my setup 🤣🤣
-
You never figure out HA properly...
