  1. @nugglet, I know this is a super hot topic, but after all the digging I have done and the amount of backing up I plan to do for the important stuff, I felt like it wasn't a huge concern. Feel free to voice your opinion otherwise, but from I was gathering, modern RAM nowadays from a quality supplier is basically a non-issue in the short- to medium-term. Is it something I should really go out of my way to get?
  2. Thanks @Mobius! I was decently confident this all seemed okay, but I am glad someone can make sure I am at least in the right direction. Can't wait to get started!
  3. So sorry. Forgot to add I mainly want to use this as a Jellyfin/Plex server for content, a photo backup after figuring out which apps I like, and obviously a generic file backup. Basically want to do more local video streaming and get rid of iCloud and Google Drive. Also wouldn't mind to do some VM experimentation in the future just to learn.
  4. I bought an old gigabyte NAS box with some hard drives to try out TrueNAS a while ago to see if I would be into it. After hearing about HexOS, I immediately changed the color of my pants with excitement. Long story short, mobo is dead and it's like a 4th gen i5 or something like that. I want a good deal on new hardware unless there is an insane used itx mobo / CPU / ram combo. I picked out a 12600 (cooler included), AsRock b760m-itx for mobo, and 32 GB of ripjaws. As a certified noob, please let me know if I am doing something dumb. I don't need a GPU, right?
