Okay, last update I guess. Everything now seems to work fine. Still have no idea what happened.

** Update ** After about 3 hours, all services started running eventually. I'm running Ollama and OpenWebUI which was running extremely slowly. Last time they were running slowly after an update I noticed that the option to utilize my GPU had been unchecked in TrueNAS, after reenabling it, everything was fine. This time however, the box was still checked. I initiated a restart hoping that would solve the problem and it is taking FOREVER to have the applications up and running. At this point, I've restarted 7 minutes ago and no applications are showing as running. According to HexOS and TrueNAS, there are no applications installed. Is there a way to roll back a HexOS update? I don't know what to do.

I successfully installed the latest HexOS update but now no applications will start and Give Us Feedback won't do anything either. I can access TrueNAS without issue and Command Deck also shows that the server is running but no applications are currently installed / running

Whelp. I'm going to call it. The 710 platform is much more power hungry and less efficient than I thought it was going to be but it was fun playing server hardware. The biggest drawback is having pcie 2.0 x8 slots and the older slower ram. I have an old 7700k platform that while maxes out at 64 gb ram. Should be faster and more efficient and let me use a modern gpu. Since I only have one hexos license, how do I move everything over to the new machine? The boot drive and the storage drives are incompatible with my z170 mobo so I can't just plop them into the new system.

Looks like I do have the PERC H700 and it looks like it can't be flashed? The link you shared says 710. What options for the R710 do I have? There's a used server place nearby I can go to inquire about parts needed. Thanks!

I decided to go with 18 sticks of 8gb ecc ram, and picked up 2 5570's. Unfortunately I'm over budget on power so I'll be sourcing the 870w psu's. Just waiting now on the final fan. My next question is how to stuff my 3090 or 3060 in it to power an LLM? I know I'll need an external psu. I found this video and the last option sounds like it's the way to go? Anyone have advice? Is this H700 what you were talking about? I was able to get it installed with 4gb of ram 🤣. With all the potential applications there are and how inexpensive DDR3 ram is, how much ram should I consider getting?

I will check the HBA this weekend and report back. The only thing left to source would be RAM, how much and what type. Would I want to populate all 3 channels? From what I've found so far it seems getting it maxed out would be relatively inexpensive since the unit was free. 2 - 5690's - $50 Heatsink - $5 to $10 Fan (one is not populated - $10 RAM - Page 129 : Shows some of my options. What would be the best option for me in populating the slots on each side if I went with dual CPU's? I'm excited to get this up and running. Thank you for all of your insights!

So I finally cracked open the R710 server. I have a single 5520 and 2 - 2gb sticks of ram. I looked on ebay and found matching 5690's for only 50 dollars. Do you think it's worth having 2 2690s?thakks!

Hey all! I was lucky enough to get these two machines for free in working order. Would HexOS work with these systems? Does anyone have experience installing HexOS on them? Just wondering what I'm getting myself into before getting into it. Thanks in advance!

I'm sorry if I missed it on the road app or feature list. The biggest thing I use Synology DSM for is syncing files from family members computers to my NAS remotely using Synology Drive Client and backing up their computers. I didn't see this listed for Hexos, if this is available, I'm ready to jump ship from dsm. My family is not computer savvy so I need something turnkey easy to deploy over the phone. Sounds like immich is the way to go for photo backup instead of synology photos and buddy backup is coming this year? Right now I have my movie files on the Nas and a separate computer to transcode with a gpu. How does running hexos and transcoding streams of movies affect performance? Would I want to keep the same model I have currently with two separate machines or could I combine them? Anything else I should consider? Thanks in advance! I'm excited to see where this project goes!
