  1. I have my new NAS up and running I am currently getting all of the docker files moved and reverse engineering the configs between synology and truenas. I did have a big change in the CPU/motherboard though. I didn't notice the one of the m.2 slots on the motherboard was just PCI gen3 x1 slot so I ordered and I am now using CWWK NAS Motherboard with AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS I am not sure how well that will work with jellyfin transcoding. I know they state AMD is not recommended for that but I figured worse case I can just get the Yeston RTX 3050 if I need to.
  2. When I upgraded from a 1060 to a 3070 graphics card the heat output surprised me. I had to move it away from my legs so I wouldn't start sweating after 20 minutes under load. Made me rethink just getting the most powerful thing I can afford. My office already has my computer, mini fridge, 35 inch TV, leopard gecko tank (145 watts during day, 45 watts at night), 3d printer in the closet, networking equipment, my NAS, and 6 or so low powered chargers and devices. plus mine and two dogs body heat. All in a 8' by 12' space. It gets warm. I like it during Michigan winter not so much during summer.
  3. Thanks. I wanted a processor with lower heat and power draw. Since my office already is 5-10 degrees warmer than the rest of the house.
  4. I am currently running a synology 720+ but have been having volume crashes that require complete backup and restore. At first it was once in two years then once a year then every six months and this last time was 2 months. I replaced both the ram and hard drivers but it didn't resolve my issue. So I decided to build a new sever from scratch with Hexos. I just ordered everything last night. Case: JONSBO N2 and a Noctua NF-A12x15 to replace the noisy stock fan. CPU and Motherboard: HKUXZR NAS Motherboard with integrated Intel i5-12450H Cooler: Noctua NH-L9x65 Memory: Crucial 64GB DDR5 RAM 5600MHz (2x32GB) PSU: Seasonic FOCUS SGX-500 Boot drive: Kingston 240GB M.2: (2X) SAMSUNG 990 EVO Plus SSD 2TB Hard drives: (3X) Seagate IronWolf Pro, 16 TB (two of them are repurposed from the synology) Cables: (2X) right angle sata (3.3 feet) and one mini SAS to 4x right angle sata (3.3 feet) My plan will be to have one mirrored 2TB m.2 pool for docker and any thing that could use quick random IO. and the three ironwolf pros in a RAID-Z1 giving me 32TB for mass storage with the ability to double that with two more drives. My current synology has 17 docker containers. With the two big ones being home assistant and jellyfin. I had 4-5 others but had to remove them to save on ram.
