Yes.  So say you have 3 4TB drives.  Which would give you 8TB of usable storage.

Replacing one of them with 8TB drive will not give you more storage.  But if you buy 3 8TB drives, replace one of the 4TB drives, allow it to rebuild, then do the same for the remaining drives, after the last 8 TB is installed and rebuilt it will automatically expand to 16TB of usable storage.

I will go with that solution too but now we also get the chance to expand the storage by adding disk to the pool.

Hi we're a IT company in France and we build up NAS for our customers and we're pretty excited with your solution (still wait for the beta Acces).

Do you have any plans for partner program ?  Maybe searching for local distributors arround the globe ?

I'm interested with that kind of partnership too. It's still beta, but i would like something like this in the near future.

odds are they just update the webui (since it's hosted on their end anyway), we click a shiny new button, bits download and get placed, switches thrown, reboot, and bob's you're uncle.  my guess, anyways

Sounds like a pretty good guess to me...lol

  4. I got Nextcloud install on my TrueNas setup. Was not that easy to make it work specially from outside.

Can't wait to see how they will come with a more friendly HexOs touch on it.

how will HexOS receive updates will we need to reinstall until its out of beta or will it start prompting us to update it via the cloud dashboard?

I can't wait to see the answer for this one...I'm curious to know more about it too

Honestly I'm surprised to see so few replies. I would have thought a lot more people would be asking for HA integration.

Hex OS popped up on my radar because of the LTT video. Until then it was a bridge too far to play with. But with some hand holding and user friendly features I'm jumping in.

That being said, as a total newbie currently running Home assistant using virtual box on my daily driver windows 10 machine, I was hoping Hex OS could be used as a hypervisor, run windows 10/11 for daily use, with home assistant and Frigate running in separate containers.

Previously I had to have a separate SFF Ubuntu machine running frigate which was always clunky and unreliable.

Is this realistic or am I misunderstanding how this could work?

I totally agreed with you...would help me to move out of my current TrueNas setup.

  7. Being the IT guys in my family's / neighborhood, it would be nice to get access to a referral program or discount type solution for those that gonna either refer person to the software or buy lots of licenses over time to deploy many system for others.

So I know that this is extreme overkill, and that for a beta this is probably the dumbest thing I can do, but I keep like 4 copies of everything and enjoy the pain of learning new things. Even if it can be frustrating at times.

    The build:

    Ryzen 9 7950X3D

    RTX 4090

    64 GB RAM

    5 X 18 TB HHD

    1 TB m.2 SSD

    1 TB SATA SSD

Didn’t realize that most NAS softwares (I think) don’t work with disk drives  😅

I use it primarily for playing with AI. I’ve setup Ollama and used comfyUI while on windows. I have a code server setup so I can work on Minecraft plugins and then use Jellyfin as a streaming replacement.
I’m planning on using the file system to replace ICloud as I have Immich also setup.

Slowly working on replacing services I pay for with local solutions. In the meantime I’ve learned a TON on networking, data management, and docker.

Thank you to sharing your setup, especially some screen of the HexOs system.

AMP would do this and much more. If HexOS supported AMP, that would handle pretty much any compatible game server.  AMP discussion:

I look in my TrueNas server and AMP still not available. It would be nice if they bring that at least on HexOs. I already pay for game server and would like to get my own.

No I didn't since electricity here in Quebec is on of the cheapest around the Globe. I'm not wasting it , but between those two machines I'm pretty sure it will barely change anything.

Glad to see a Quebec folks here...I move in Alberta 11 years ago but originally from Quebec.

    Immich works well with that.

I had to use tail scale to tunnel into it but so far no issues.

Did you try CloudFlare as tunnel solution and if yes what make you choose TailScale instead ?

It applies when it is claimed and frees when the server is disconnected from the Command Deck.

Do you know if you got 2 physical server (1 for backup)and 1 license if you can take your license from your server to the backup server you want to setup and put the license back in your main server gonna work  ? Or you will need 2 license to make that setup work ?
