  1. @Mobius its too bad there isn't a more common UPS standard for network devices. I bought this UPS well before even thinking about building a NAS, compatibility wasn't a concern then. Weird we go through all the work of making our storage drives redundant but the actual power is less of a concern. @Theo Unfortunately, I don't have home assistant, I'm invested in a couple different ecosystems so porting all my hardware over to a new platform isn't a priority for me yet. That is a clever work around though! How are you implementing HA? I've heard that having a separate system is more stable than running it in a VM.
  2. I've got HexOS installed and working great so far! Now I'm wanting to set up some conditions that will shut down my system before my UPS runs out. Or at the very least safely shut down on battery operation. From the research I've done so far I know that this is something I'll have to set up in the TrueNAS UI>system>services section. I've found the NUT compatibility list and my UPS is not explicitly listed (Liebert PST5 850VA/500W); however, I would like to do some testing to see if I can get any of the drivers working. I'm not very familiar with the TrueNAS shell yet so I'm not sure how to go about testing this. Looking for some direction or references about where to start, or how to go about this. Thanks!
  3. I will definitely keep this updated with power usage. I realize I've loaded the case with tons of power draw items. In the future I might be interested in something like a E3-1270L if I can find a good deal on eBay. 2 RAM sticks instead of 4. No GPU. Less higher capacity drives vs more low capacity ones. Undervolting. Etc. At least this will let me start to get a hang of things. I'm fortunate enough to live in Alberta where power is cheap. But overtime it does all add up. Thanks for the feedback!
  4. Thanks! That was the idea for printing higher feet, eventually setting up a shelf for even more seperation is probably a good idea though. I do also have a high level alarm in the sump for some more peace of mind. It definitely wasn't necessary and I could have saved some money without it, but I can't deny how legit it looks. I was originally planning on doing Two 2x5.25in 3-drive enclosures for 6-drives total, but I figured this 5-drive enclosure is good enough to get started. Here's the link. It's a bit plastic feeling but seems to get the job done. https://a.co/d/6eml2bJ
  5. Here's my first ever server build. Tried to use parts either friends or I had laying around, good way to use things that were otherwise E-waste. Planning to use it primarily as a storage server, and something to get my feet wet. Will be starting with the curated apps, Immich for photo backup, and getting a decent PLEX server running hence the P2000. Also hoping to get Tailscale installed in some fashion for VPN access as well.
