    The device will show up as offline on your dashboard, and you can remove it even if it is unable to go online.

    It's good that I went with the WD Red Plus drives, as those and the Red Pro drives are CMR. I picked up three of the 4 TB drives so that I could add more storage to the server later after the initial setup. I also got a pair of 256 GB M.2 drives to serve as boot drives.
