  1. My gripes with HexOS so far have been 1. Why did they release this with no method of changing your boot drive?????? I installed HexOS originally on an old Hard Drive because i figured I'd easily be able to change it later either through imaging or export/import of settings. Turn out, nope. zfs makes it rough to clone the image since it fills up the remaining drive space making it impossible to clone to a smaller SSD without very hacky workarounds that i did not want to risk trying and using the built in TrueNAS config export/import, doesn't bring back HexOS correctly. It's crazy that I am either forced to go through the HexOS install process which includes wiping the entire pool (which was created in HexOS mind you) or ignore hexOS entirely and just go straight to the trueNAS UI anytime I want to do anything, ignoring the entire setup process and just leaving hexOS not setup. (i did it this way and it works for me for now) 2. I can't upgrade trueNAS from within the trueNAS ui for the risk that it might break hexOS which I would still like to have working in the future whenever they finally allow me to import my pool. Normally, this wouldn't matter, but the version of trueNAS that hexOS is using has been dropped from app updating support as of June 1st. So, all the apps I have (including immich and plex) can't be updated unless TrueNAS is updated past 24.10.2.2 or later. All my Apps get an error when Updating them - Apps and Virtualization - TrueNAS Community Forums Admittedly, I have been using trueNAS for far more than the intended use-case hexOS is trying to offer at the moment. I've installed 22 apps so far lol. But I wouldn't be here if hexOS didn't entice me to finally get a NAS up and running since it makes it so simple to start. It's just really frustrating that the product I paid for, simply does not work for me for the past few months without risk of data loss. If I had never bought hexOS and still decided to run trueNAS myself, I'd honestly be happy still since it turns out I don't really need the training wheels that hexOS offers (though I still appreciate the product and what they're trying to do). I hope we'll hear something soon, especially since the app update thing is probably affecting every hexOS user now. Maybe one day I'll be able to re-import my hexOS pool into hexOS, get that web UI back up and running, and get a trueNAS 25.04 update rolled out.
  2. Can confirm that more native apps would be nice to have after adding critical features (like being able to change boot drive without data loss. I initially installed HexOS on an old hard drive while i waited to get an SSD, then I got the SSD and wasn't able to figure out how to move over with no risk of data loss...) I've personally gone ahead and installed tailscale (So that I can access immich and other files from anywhere) and qbittorrent (So i can move active torrents off my main PC) I imagine tailscale in particular would be huge for many users to be natively supported. I'd argue qbittorent too, but less so than tailscale or something equivalent.
  3. +1 to tailscale and qbittorent
