  1. Sure thing ^_^ I think I will have a little fun with it as well and make a video guide to accompany a text guide XD its been awhile since I've done something fun for media production.
  2. I have done this using Nextcloud AIO. It took quite a bit of troubleshooting to get working in a way that uses Cloudflare Tunnel so I can access it remotely without exposing my IP address, and I'm looking at better solutions than Cloudflare Tunnel still, but so far it is working nicely and I have been able to use it to share files with students using just a link and not giving them login accounts. About to head to bed, but if you're interested, I can work on a step by step guide of what I did to get it working~
  3. For me? I will probably be using it for my family's NAS when it is in a better state, I'm fine and happy learning and struggling through the TrueNAS stuff, but I know my family would get very frustrated. So I'm keeping an eye on this to see when it is in a state that will be more useful to them so they won't need to contact me to fix something XD
  4. Yup XD I'll make an FYI post in Setup & Installation's category, since that seems like an appropriate section. As it is an interesting bit of information, like you said, it will probably be appreciated by those who might be wanting to know the potential things to expect if they were to attempt it to better be informed.
  5. That is a definitely interesting thought. I would imagine/hope that when the HexOS team makes their update, it would include an updater for the TrueNAS side as well (possible either downgrading or otherwise just refreshing some kind of settings? not sure on how that side works). I will be sure to followup with it whenever HexOS pushes their next version ^_^ definitely one of those things that I imagine should be tested as there are those of us users who are advanced enough to feel comfortable playing with the TrueNAS side of things but want the HexOS side as an option, and I believe that many of us will be likely to update things on TrueNAS without much thought XD With that, currently debating if the hardware status break is an issue worth making a "bug" report over since while it is an explicit user decision going into the TrueNAS side regardless of the warnings they give, but is also something that can easily happen if someone does go into the TrueNAS side and sees "oh, there is an update? Don't mind if I do~"
  6. Followup~ Definite breaks some things in the HexOS deck dashboard. Dash: Processor and Memory readings are completely incorrect (TrueNAS dashboard says processor is 2% while HexOS says its 98%, so I think it is flipped, showing unutilized CPU as utilized) and RAM is not showing any data on the HexOS side of things. The Network information seems to be accurate for up and down stream. HDD usage on HexOS and TrueNAS seem to be in conflict (though I didn't look at the difference before updating XD). HexOS states I have used 0.5 TB / 23.83 TB, while TrueNAS states it is 464.39 GiB / 21.22 TiB (granted, maybe TiB and TB are different units of measurement? not sure on that myself). Folders: User creation and deletion works without a problem. Folder creation, deletion, and permission assignment works as well. Storage: Cannot verify as I don't want to delete and remake my pool XD Apps: Stop/Start works. Launch never worked for me before and still doesn't work. I uninstalled plex successfully. Reinstall was also successful. Settings: All seems well here. Final observation: Things are taking a bit more time to actually show up in the Deck dashboard for HexOS, but it is a difference of a few seconds longer. Obvious notes of "this is just my observation and applied to my setup with my hardware, etc... etc... etc...", so proceed at your own discretion XD For my case though, kinda sad the system utilization info is inaccurate on the Deck dash now, as it is nice to see that remotely, but it isn't the end of the world as I can check it at home from the TrueNAS UI.
  7. >.> Morbid curiosity is getting the better of me. Snapshots and stuff for recovery have been made. Will report back when I have validated what does and doesn't break between TrueNAS 25.04 and HexOS
  8. I bought my license for HexOS day 1, cause I knew I wanted to try it out and see how it would do with a home NAS for simplicity (namely to see if it would be worthwhile to use for family and friends that aren't as technical), but didn't get around to building my NAS until now for various reasons XD Still waiting on the case and drives to come in later, but I got everything else in today and did a test run and installed HexOS ^_^ Looking forward to finishing the build and finally having a NAS~ Please ignore the fact that I did my tests and OS install the way you see it in the photo XD As for the build itself, I'm gunna be rocking the following~ CPU: 14600k MoBo: MSI Pro B760M-A DDR4 II RAM: 32GB HDD: 12TB x3 (For my uses, expanding by 12s when I need to is more than enough XD) Case: Jonsbo N5 I figure this will be good for playing around with things and having a NAS+PLEX machine that won't give me any issues.
