	I remember when HexOS first came out it was mentioned that an iOS app would be developed. Is that still the plan?

	First and foremost, I must admit that I have absolutely no experience in this field of technology, so please bear with me if my questions seem basic or straightforward.
</p>

<p>
	My first question is, can I remotely access my NAS? I plan to build my system and keep it at my in-laws’ house to store all my data in a location that’s not my apartment. Secondly, if that’s possible, can I set up the NAS here at my apartment and then simply move it there, or should I set it up where I intend to keep it permanently? Thirdly, if that’s feasible, can I set it up in a way that allows me to drag and drop files in Windows File Explorer, and they’ll automatically appear on my NAS wherever it is?
</p>

<p>
	Another question I have is how other users can access the NAS. I want to be able to share family photos, for example, using this NAS. Is there a web portal that other users can log into to access files and folders that they have access to? I understand that there’s a focus on simplifying permissions and users, but I’m curious about how this actually works.<br />

	<strong>Feature Request: Cloud Configuration Backup &amp; Restore</strong>
</p>

<p>
	It would be great if HexOS could optionally back up the full system configuration to the user's HexOS account. When installing HexOS on a new boot drive or migrating to new hardware, users could simply sign in and choose <strong>"Restore from Account Backup"</strong> to automatically restore all system settings.
</p>

<p>
	This could include:
</p>

<ul>
	<li>
		<p>
			Storage pool configuration
		</p>
	</li>
	<li>
		<p>
			Shares and permissions
		</p>
	</li>
	<li>
		<p>
			Users and groups
		</p>
	</li>
	<li>
		<p>
			Apps and app settings
		</p>
	</li>
	<li>
		<p>
			Scheduled tasks
		</p>
	</li>
	<li>
		<p>
			Network settings (where appropriate)
		</p>
	</li>
	<li>
		<p>
			Other TrueNAS configuration
		</p>
	</li>
</ul>

<p>
	The feature should be <strong>optional</strong>, allowing users to enable or disable automatic cloud backups and manually create restore points if desired.
</p>

<p>
	This would make disaster recovery and hardware migration much simpler, eliminate the need to manually export/import configuration files, and provide a smoother experience for users while keeping HexOS true to its goal of making NAS management easy.

	Hello, <br />
	<br />
	I recently upgraded to 25.10.1 through the HexOS Ui but something has gone wrong and I can't access it any more through the commanded deck. It currently list's the server as offline but I can still connect to the TrueNAS local network UI without issue.<br />
	<br />
	I'm not sure fix this with out a OS reinstall.<br />
	I've checked DNS settings, and the TrueNAS can ping google from its command line. I've made no changes to my home network and the NAS was access before the update.  I'm not sure where to look for HexOS Errors in TrueNAS.<br />
	<br />
	Any help would be greatly appropriated.

	I'm not sure if this is the correct place to ask this so if it should be in a different location please direct me and i will re-post there. I have been considering a nas for quite a while but i have a specific use case that I am curious if this solution can provide. I have a very large media library (movies and TV shows - some purchased through itunes and others ripped from my own disks) that i watch/playback using AppleTVs in different rooms of my home, and i would like to stop running iTunes on my desktop with large storage and instead move to a nas. I know some NAS solutions mention that they support itunes media server as an app but i don't like their platforms. I do like the essentially agnostic platform that HexOS works with but i am wondering if it has or will in the future have the ability to run itunes media server with all my media on the NAS. I have not found any method to migrate all of my media to a different platform for in home streaming since at probably a quarter of the library was purchased through iTunes so it won't playback in other applications due to their DRM.
</p>

<p>
	If you could provide direction or insight regarding HexOS's capabilities it would be greatly appreciated.
</p>

<p>
	Thank you,

However, I have not yet found any UI in HexOS to accomplish this. Is this a feature planned for the future? I figured with Buddy Backup on the roadmap, I should be able to do that with my own servers.

	I started the most recent update over he Deck on Saturday and because it took longer then expected to come beck up on the deck I looked at the TrueNAS Interfaces, as it was online and didn't show any running tasks i assumed the update went trough and restarted via the web interface. But even after that and after some additional waiting time Deck still couldn't find the server.

<p>
	I already tryed the Network fix from Mobius of the "<span><span>Deck will not connect to hexOS" thread and checked, within my capabilities, the ports mentioned in the </span></span><a href="https://docs.hexos.com/troubleshooting/" rel="external nofollow">https://docs.hexos.com/troubleshooting/ Guide.</a>

	Since the rollout of HexOS local the "hexos (ix-app)" showed up in the TrueNAS app list. Makes sense for running HexOS local software on TrueNAS.
</p>

<p>
	The app is showing to have available updates in the TrueNAS app list.<br />
	Of course, this app doesn't show up the HexOS Deck interface. So I cannot update it from there.
</p>

<p>
	My question is:<br />
	- What should I do with this app?<br />
	- Should I update it manually?<br />
	- Will HexOS update it automatically? When?<br />
	- Why does it show an update but didn't update automatically yet?
</p>

<p>
	I understand, that the intention for HexOS is to never have to touch TrueNAS.<br />
	For my use cases I do very often and just wondered about this.

	I recently started testing Apps within HexOS and installed a couple of curated apps where I noticed the process creates several public accessible storage shares as part of the install process. During my testing I switch to installing one of the apps through the TrueNAS interface instead and didn't see this behavior. Am I being overly cautious thinking that this is a pretty big security risk for when I move HexOS to being my production NAS? Should I be installing all apps through the TrueNAS interface if this continues to be a big concern for me? Thanks!

	Hi, since the new HexOS update, I can't use the deck, server is still there, TrueNAS still accessible. I've unclaim and reclaim the server, but it's stuck on waiting for connection and will fail.
</p>

<p>
	HexOS now appears in the Applications tab on TrueNAS but will periodically try to start and then crash after running for a second, and there appears to be an update available.
</p>

<p>
	Thanks in advance for you help!

	I just installed HexOs (using the latest version, ISO TrueNAS-SCALE-25.10.3-HexOS) and I'm not able to detect the server on the Deck. I've verified I can ping directly, and can access the server via the TrueNas WebUI.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I've tried manually plugging the IP into the Deck page, and it still doesn't find it. Machines are undoubtedly on the same network, as they are plugged into the same network switch via ethernet. Haven't had luck troubleshooting with any of the other posted content so far, looking for assistance.
</p>

<p>
	Verified in both Chrome<span style="font-size:14px;"> (<span style="background-color:rgb(41,42,45);">147.0.7727.116) </span></span>and Firefox (150.0). I've tried on both deck.hexos.com and prod.hexos.com

	I'm new to servers and hosting self storage and so on, so far I have enjoyed the easy UI of HexOS Beta, great work so far. As a new guy who doesn't fully understand all the terminology and how the raid stuff works I think it would be neat to have a calculator on the dashboard that you could tell HexOS "I want 8Tb of usable storage, what drive size/counts would it take" and it be like "You need 4x 4Tb for this config or 2x 8Tb for for this config".
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	IDK just thinking out loud as I try learning how this stuff works.

	I have 7 TiB Free and have this Message in the Deck:
</p>

<ul style="background-color:#76350f;border:0px solid #737373;color:#ffffff;font-size:14px;padding:0px 0px 0px 16px;">
	<li style="border:0px solid #737373;padding:0px;">
		One or more of your storage pools is at or near capacity.
	</li>
</ul>

<p>
	How can i disable this Message or set a new Limit.
</p>

<p>
	7TiB of Free storage is not a reason for an Orange message in my Case.
