Hey, Yes this should work fine. Just the obligatory warning that those SFP+ Modules with RJ45 are running hot and require a lot more energy compared to fibre optics. So make sure you have airflow/cooling on your switch.

Hi all, sorry if this has been asked already. I'm wondering if it's possible to use a Cat7 cable connected from the 10G port on a UGREEN NASync device to a 10G SFP interface using one of these: 10Gtek SFP+ to RJ45 Copper Module - 10GBase-T Transceiver for Cisco SFP-10G-T-S, Ubiquiti unifi UF-RJ45-10G, Netgear, D-Link, Mikrotik, Meraki, Linksys and More, up to 30m 10Gtek 1.25/2.5/5/10G-T SFP+ to RJ45 Copper Module - 10GBase-T Transceiver for Cisco SFP-10G-T-S Ubiquiti unifi UF-RJ45-10G D-Link Supermicro Broadcom Linksys up to 30m Pack of 2 : Amazon.ca: Electronics Thanks for the help.

Next post - does HexOS have a support probelm?
TheCamba replied to gingerling's topic in Show & Tell
Cant wait to see what your problem with Immich is/was. :P Took me a bit to get it working. -
I have not purchased one yet. But I'm willing and really want to try it. I do understand that this is not even remotely designed for this but all the bits and pieces seem to be there. I feel like it could be pretty stout home server especially for the price per pony, And that were mostly/primarily using this in a headless configuration. I can come up with an enclosure solution later. I have also found some adapters to use a more standard CPU cooler which should reduce noise. I'm thinking a single size 120x120mm aio type would be neat. Albeit for fedora... If you want to take a peek, This post claims to fix the driver issues related to the GPU. https://github.com/mothenjoyer69/bc250-documentation This is the video that seems most successful. Albeit for gaming use(steam machine-ish). I considered using and adapter like these... https://a.co/d/fK0bfUC Or This adapter with an HBA. https://a.co/d/eUbo7FC https://a.co/d/cgmL5OX Let me know what you think.

So you want parity pricing for your costs, what about parity pricing to support all of the developers cost of living, the price for HexOS is very reasonable. What you are asking for is unrealistic.

I'm in a city in my country which is in the top 3 in terms of cost of living, and I make a few percentages over the median income for this city. Despite that, the HexOS license would cost close to 30% of my monthly wages just to put things in perspective. Plenty of software solutions for this reason use a parity pricing model to take into account wages differences across the globe. I understand this is easier said than done with the product's cost of development and investor interests. But it might actually add more to the community and popularity of the platform as well. Plenty of software products do it for the same reason. Just my two cents.

Hey, Yes Realtek doesn't play nice with Hexos and WiFi is not supported at all. If you are looking for a PCIe NIC go with an Intel NIC, if you want to have 10Gbps, go with sth. Like an Intel X520 or X540 depending if you want SFP+(X520) or RJ45 (X540)

Gigabyte Z890 Gaming X Wifi7 motherboard (intel) The specs of the motherboard list Realtek® 2.5GbE LAN chip (2.5 Gbps/1 Gbps/100 Mbps) The Wifi MediaTek Wi-Fi 7 MT7925 Neither of the interfaces appear to have been found.. Opening a linux shell just shows the loopback interface "lo" I see from other posts realtek ethernet adapters appear to cause issues. Is it best to get an add in card? If so what would be a good 10gbs that is known to work with HexOS?

The BC-250 is the apu used in the PS5. I have seen Reddit Posts of people who are running Linux on a BC-250, but not without issues. It is experimental. Do you already own a BC250? In that case, Lets give it a try. If you have to buy one, perhaps there are better options.

I'll have another go at recreating the installer, many thanks.

I've seen a few people successfully install Linux on a BC-250 and steam for gaming. Being that hexox/trunas is debion based and debion should support RDNA do you think I could get this to work ? I feel like this could be a compact, cost effective and powerful option with a 16x mini-pcie to pcie hba or to 6 port sata adapter.

Sorry, what exactly do I need to type into the browser? The launch button worked when I first set up the applications but now nothing happens.

a lot of time the install errors can be fixed by remaking the installer usb. Also make sure you have secure boot disabled.

Hi there, I am trying to install on an old enterprise server (Lenovo X3650 m3) however after I get to select Install/Upgrade I get multiple file errors and then it finishes at the grub screen. My only option after that it to type exit which then brings me back to to pervious Install/Upgrade screen. I have 7 drives in total 2 x SATA & 4 x SAS & 1 x M.2 SATA SSD connected via PCI card (which I'm not sure if it has been detected or not} which are all connected to the servers raid controller bar the M.2. I have previously been using Proxmox on this machine with no issues, what can I do, if anything. I am willing to give anything a try at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i'm thinking something similar to our smb instructions would be nice. Just a few links with write ups on how to setup rsync on different platforms. -

PsychoWards replied to EviTRea's topic in Roadmap & Feature Requests
This would require to make setting up the rsync server easier, but then again the team could only make the receiver side easier, but the user would still need to figure out how to use rsync on their existing NAS. -

Safe to Use TrueNAS UI for Settings Not in HexOS?
Mobius replied to numbers's question in OS & Features
welcome to hexos At this time the only other thing to keep in mind is that you should NOT update the underlying truenas operating system. Some functions might work and others might not however the HexOS team regards that as an unsupported use case. As far as i know there have not been any reports of docker apps breaking hexos so you should be good. -

@Mobius I just bought my lifetime license and am diving into setting up a NAS moving away from the current MS Plex server I have, is there anything else specific that may brick HexOS outside of single drive Pools? I am mainly looking at Plex Immich Filebot qBittorrent Sonarr/Radarr Prowlarr Tautulli apologies if this makes no sense I am very new and have very little idea at this stage -

@EviTRea, I support this. It's a pretty common use case. Migrating to HexOs should be as simple as using HexOs. -

feature-request An easy way to pull data from another NAS
EviTRea replied to EviTRea's topic in Roadmap & Feature Requests
Forgot to mention another point of making HexOS do the pulling: If I use my PC to access both machine with SMB to do the copying, my PC would need to stay awake for the entire transfer session. Which is bad, and another point of failure. -

So, I had a Synology running for like 4 years. It was about to run out of space, so I decided to make a custom NAS. I set up HexOS, then I want my all my Synology data to be in HexOS. The first thought is just open SMB share on both devices, and copy paste from one to the other machine... But on Linux, I know that this would just make directories with the same name, thus making "Last modified" to be the date that the transfer happens. Therefore, I asked ChatGPT. It suggested Rsync, which has a lot of benefits, like pure NAS to NAS communication, the ability to resume transfer if things got wrong... And of course HexOS doesn't have that. Not saying it should, but I just happen to need it in this specific case. Anyway, I went into TrueNAS, and set up Rsync. I'll spare the details since it's not really a HexOS topic, but I can say that it took several hours to figure out with constant waiting, it's not a pleasant experience. And I'm just thinking, there should be an easier way right? Like, TrueNAS scale is just Debian. Can't it just access SMB itself, copy the file into a directories, and use some parameters to keep the metadata? Or whatever, I don't know. My point is, "I just set up a new NAS and now I want all my old NAS data here" is probably a common enough need that HexOS should have a default solution to. That's about it. Thanks for reading.
