  2. Has anyone tried completly uninstalling Immich and reinstalling to solve this upgrade issue? What happens to the data inside Immich? Also, here is another post that is talking about this topic:
  3. Instead of having to determine who has what access through the folder itself, also include the option so that when editing the user information, also be able to edit the access of the folders. So when creating a new folder would be the same where you can add access, but if you also include the option to edit access to the user editing menu, that would be nice in case there are lots of folders.
  4. Love the new curated apps! As I have many of these apps already from the TrueNAS side, would there be plans to allow migration to the curated ones?

  6. I am having the same issue where it cant find my server from the HexOS Dashboard. The server is active on my local network and I can access the truenas dashboard using the IP listed for the server on my router. I attempted to unclaim the server and then attempted to reclaim but it is still not showing up.
  7. I bought HexOS last year when it kicked off and created an immich server, loaded tons of photos, etc. Then for various reasons I turned off the computer and left it sit. Now, a year later, I turned it on, ran updates, etc but I apparently did not write down anything about the user account I set up in Immich so I can't access anything from my phone or from the IP:30041 url. How can I get back into this since Immich does not provide a way to reset the password? I know the email address I used but not the password.
  8. Perhaps but Linus and his circle of friends are no fools. If he sees there is any sign of a sinking ship, he will not mince words. And from reading the forums regularly, I wonder if the team underestimated the effort they were undertaking. While unexpected change happens, that have certainly gotten more than their share.
  9. By simple blind luck, I got in at the first sale. That sale, in my opinion, was to fund the current work. While the option to allow existing customers to purchase a second license seemed odd at first, I think it is there to give us options for a backup server or the ability to try new things on a virtual machine leaving our "production machine" unaffected. The buddy backup idea certainly blew up into a big discussion but only because we saw a interesting opportunity that was being taken away as fast as we were recognizing it. As for the $199 new user license price, I guess that is within Eshtek's right since HexOS is their product. As I have said, I am a paying customer who has asked a lot of questions and called people to task because I think this product can be everything I have wanted since a friend built me a NAS that I can't really administrate myself. I don't know enough about TrueNAS to really be comfortable with the product but most of the experience has been pretty simple. Had I missed the LTT video I wouldn't have been part of that initial group of investors/testers/buyers. Like you, $199 is enough to make me pause and think f this is really where I want to spend my money. My only thoughts that would be in Eshtek's defense (if they really need a defense) are that they took a chance on a new product. Because of this they have a company that is working on a product with a staff payroll both in developers today but also support staff, customer service representatives a full development staff working on new options or improving existing ones and a ton of marketing costs. I won't pretend that I know that cost but I don't want this product to be abandoned in five years if the money dries up. There has been discussion of a month by month cost but that has been quiet for a while. The forums have several entries about future pricing and Eshtek has held to their word from the one time initial investment to eventually going to $299 as the new starting price. And because they probably have people who bought in at $99 and $199, they can't really lower that price without angering their community. This is a community not only including folks like me who seem to jump on every unclear statement but also content creators who enjoy criticising business decisions they don't like and have millions of followers. At the end of the day when the smoke clears HexOSS is a business and to ensure survival it needs to be treated that way. You choosing to spend your money elsewhere is your right and I don't think anyone directly linked to Eshtek would ever say anything different. You must do what's right for you. If HexOS doesn't fit your budget now, maybe it will when it matures some more. Who knows.
  10. When I go to that link and it offers me a $99 option is that because I am already an existing license/account/customer? If that is true then the two license option would have to be $198 not $298. Or I guess you could have decided in the spirit of goodwill and such, to reinstate the original BF sale price. I'm not questioning your decisions and choices nor you right to price your intellectual property however you wish. I am, however, asking for more clarity in future communication coming from admins and moderators so that you don't directly conflict with prior message unless you are clear that is your intent. If we are back to a $99 license for first time buyers then say it clearly.
  11. I'm having the same issue. Though its only been an issue since I've updated my network to a unifi system and setup vlans/new IP aka going from 192.168.50.1 to 10.10.1.1 (and adding vlans from that) Could this be causing the issue? And if so how do I resolve it? - For context I can see successfull flows out but not really seeing any connections to something obviously HexOS related
  12. I've probably got more to unpack than is optimal for a single feature request, so let's start with the installed app cards having tabs. Like the card shown for the curated apps: But the tabs for an installed app would be, for example, Summary, Info, Details, Monitor, or something similar. This would allows for the main face of the card to remain untouched to the standard user, with the current information and options being displayed in the default "Summary" tab. The other tabs would then allow further information about the installed app. Perhaps similar details to the cards shown for an app in TrueNAS? I know we can view them there too, but isn't the dashboard supposed to keep us at arm's length from TrueNAS? Other examples would be performance stats of the app itself. How much is this app hitting the CPU? How much RAM is it taking? How much disk access is from this app? Another nice card would be some basic checks that the app is running. This might have to tie into the curation of an app. Curating some basic tests and checks to show the health of the app. Does it respond on port X? Is there a health check status within the app to display? Even a tab with some basic level logs from the app. I haven't investigated where apps are doing their logging yet (I would certainly prefer all my logs to hit a central log consolidator at some point), but a card showing any high level logs? Anyway - the future is open if the

  14. Well ,well , well another sale and the privilege to spend $99 for another license and we still sub 1.0 version. I bet we will see another LTT video letting us that this project is still on track and buying more gives them more capital to get to version 1.
  15. Most apps seperate config and user data. I'd guess the reason for this would be, people primarily care about the user data (Photos). So the config data like user profiles/Album organisation are less important. The idea being, maybe immich turns into a dumpster fire and you want to use something else, at which point you only care about the photos. So that app data, or config data as I called it are historically different, so additional work may be necessary.
  16. They recently mentioned concerns about reselling licenses, which is to say they seem cautious in this respect. So I'd guess we'd be waiting a while. That said, I have non-techy people in my life that store important things on USBs. I think the only network attached I could convince them of would be as you suggest.

  18. No. I have only activated one license:-) Was waiting for the final release and buddy backup before I wanted to build the second server
  19. i have exactly the same issue...
  20. Amazing news. I just hope adding HexOS Local will be seamless and won't require a fresh install/rebuild!
  21. This I don’t get. Let’s say I have immich up and running on my HexOS server which is BuddyBackup’ed at my buddy. Now my house burns down. Can I not just build a new server, put HexOS on it and restore from the BuddyBackup including applications and the data? Aren’t the images in immich not just “App data”? Same thing with paperless etc. Thanks for answering questions of us not tech savvy people!
  22. Just here to say - you guys are awesome and thanks for keeping your promises! I'm perfectly fine with deck and enjoy being able to pull up the stats quickly anywhere I am, but local hosting is so important to this community, so thank you.
  23. Hello, I have had a HexOS license since the linus video and tested around with it in a VM, but as it was then it was missing features I needed. One of them being Local UI. The thing is, I run my systems firewalled off from the internet, I expected when local UI would release to come pre-installed on the ISO and to remove the need for online connectivity completely, however from the blog post I don't really see that being the case. I may be an extreme case, but I would prefer not having that kind of requirement. I understand this is for license activation reasons, so I would like to ask if there is any option planned for offline activation and by extension offline provisioning. If not, I would at least like to see being able to just connect to the internet briefly to claim and install the local UI, then going offline and setting up initial configuration through a secure channel (Call me paranoid, a cable from laptop to server is a cable from laptop to server. The only server I trust is one I can access with an IP starting with 172.16, so at the very worst, I would expect to be able to activate and then firewall off to do the setup).
  24. This would require the app data folders themselves to be encrypted. Not impossible to do, but may not be with the first iteration of buddy backup. Definitely something we could consider!
  25. With Back Up Buddy, will I be able to backup applications and vm's so I can restore them anywhere? I'm very hesitant to start hosting applications until there's a way that I can ensure the app data is safely backed up and restoreable. The hope for this feature is essentially what brought me to HexOS.

  27. Hi there, I’ve been following HexOS for a while now (kicking myself for missing the Black Friday deal last year!) and I’m really eager to finally jump in. I checked the current sale, but I only see the bundle for 2 servers at $298. To be honest, $200+ is a little over my budget at the moment, and I’m not sure I would get enough use out of two servers right away. Is there any way to grab a single license at the Black Friday pricing? Also, for a "noob" user, what is the main advantage of having two licenses? I want to make sure I’m not missing some hidden value there before I decide. Thanks,
  28. I think the way this would work is by having two virtual networks (bridges) on the NAS. A network switch but virtual. One sends all outbound traffic through a VPN and the other through your regular network. So apps like a torrent You might plug into the VPN switch and the others you'd plug into the regular switch. So all apps would be supported. Only question would be what VPNs are supported. But then again, some support open standards like OpenVPN or Wireguard so you'd be able to connect a few different options by just implementing them.
  29. So the difference really comes down to the account you use to login and manage each system . if you want to give someone else access to manage one of the systems. If the license is on your account, you have to give them your login. Otherwise, buying on a seperate account you have to give them the seperate login. The latter not being as cheap as the former.
