Install guide are critical for the beta test to pick up more of the steam it had at the beginning. The "I can't get this o work" forum posts seem to outnumber the "Wow, this is great' posts. There are also few posts that show what people use and are bringing over from TrueNAS. And even less on how they did it. And for people like me I'm not even thinking about trying other apps on my own until I see more folks nailing down the initial install. Right or wrong, I saw a guide for tailscale and was able to use it to get remote access to Immich and the storage within HexOS itself. I'm slow to look at apps that cost though I have a Plex pass because getting the value of that app is within my skill.. It seems that if you put an install guide that the new to NAS folks can follow, you are helping to set the apps that will become the defaults in the near term. First dropbox type self storage apps with a working install will be way ahead of the other apps people like even if the HexOS devs chose a different app to list. As it is often said, one in the hand is worth two in the bush.

I assume the cache will auto shrink if more ram usage is needed. Currently my cache is at 87% with 32GB of ram.

I'm posting here to see if anyone can help me debug this issue. My HexOS server keeps going down at random times in the night and I cannot find any rhyme or reason to why it dies. The PC it's running off of is still powered on but the networking disappears and everything goes offline. I've replaced the power supply, I've tried reading logs and didn't find anything. I've turned on and off XMP. This is driving me crazy

Asked ChatGPT and it mentioned giving all the immich folders ACL access to the "apps" user like this and it has worked. Is there a misconfiguration in the curated app?

I would like to know the same, pricing for a single PC is great but the B2 option look very expensive to me. I also have the issue that I have 22 GB of data and they really wanna go through the process of re-uploading it.
-
That looks great, but isn't to expensive. I have an all you can eat personal account at the moment and I'm back in at 22 GB. I think the price for this is way more than paying at the moment?

If the app's devs are interested and willing to supporting the curation that would be ideal, but I believe the plan is that both options will be possible. HexOS community members doing manual setups of apps will be able to give useful information about features and settings that the curation should include, as you say. And yes, power users are gonna power use, but the good news is that even using when installing a curated app you can still go change things away from the defaults set in the initial install, so there's really no downside!

First of all, it's a pleasure to be part of the community. I apologize if someone else has already written this, but I was looking through the posts. English isn't my native language, and I didn't see it anywhere. I understand that hexos is a custom TrueNAS ISO. It would be nice if, during installation, it showed things like disk startup, updates, and user loading. On the other hand, like many others, I had issues moving the server from one network to another, claiming a server that had already been claimed, or other things I had to do, such as commands or even a fresh installation. I think it would be very useful in the TrueNAS panel have an app from day 0, called "hexos app" or "hexos conection," etc., that handles several things, such as: You can log in and out of the account, information about that account and the connection to the online panel, It can update the device's internal IP to the online panel, shoh public ip, etc You can also add features such as DDNS, factory reset, I also saw that Cloudflare tunnels were recommended. This same app could provide a service similar to "zero trust," capable of solving the problem of not having to touch the router to provide a tunnel to the online panel and having tabs with the services that are internal to our local network. future familiar conections, etc Well, other than that, I like where development is going, I hope. I'm looking forward to the new changes and I send you all a big hello.

Getting there, these are what I have running at the moment. iX App is owncloud running, that took about 30 hours and 4 different AI chat bots mainly. There wasnt much out there to help with getting it to run. Why owncloud and not next cloud. I had next cloud installed, didnt like it. So I tried owncloud which feels tidier and more refined and it does what I want it to do. I would love to try and make an install app for it (if your listening hexos people and turenas people) . Whats next, reverse proxy so I can access it all securely from the outside. I did have something like jellyfin.home working with https for my local, however the tv doesnt like it. Computers are fine.

Getting the same issues as well and also on a fresh install of HexOS

I moved on from AMD and went with an Intel board for the replacement. Q670-8Bay NAS Mini ITX motherboard upgrade, supports Intel 12-14 generation processors, 8 SATA3.0 ports, I226LM 2.5G with vPro https://cwwk.net/products/q670-8bay-nas-mini-itx-motherboard-upgraded-version-lga1700-supports-intell12-14-gen-processors-ddr5-dual-4k-displays-5x-usb3-2-8-sata3-0-ports-i226lm-2-5g-with-vpro-q670-2xsff-8643?_fid=42bce0f92&_pos=61&_ss=c I will also buy a Intel 12700K for it for a nice little powerhouse. Sorted.

By community do you mean the original developer if they want their app ro run on HexOS and the developer takes responsibility to maintain compatibility? Or community as in folks like me ho will try to follow guides to get a working install, filling the template out as I go? Or something else I can't really imagine yet since we are early in this process? It seems the official templates need to be curated by HexOS to maintain the widest compatibility possible. But folks with more complicated hardware or the interest to load 20+ TrueNAS compatible apps will want a more custom template or don't want to wait for templates created on a established release schedule. Never a dull moment I guess.
-
And now I have cancelled the order as while it said it was in stock it was not and they do not make it anymore. Great. Does anyone have any alternative motherboard suggestions? No Intel 13th/14th Gen though.
-
Alright so I pulled the trigger and bought the motherboard from AliExpress. I will wait until the board arrives in one piece first before I order everything else.
-
If 10 GbE networking is not possible or viable then I planned to do Link Aggregation with the 4 x 2.5GbE NICs on the motherboard. Using this on my old QNAP.

Updates/install to apps without updating true nas issues
Stealth4490 posted a question in OS & Features
Hey, making sure I'm not dumb. I have an issue when I went to install Plex where it created the folders for everything but never finished downloading the app. Thought it was weird so hit install again and it immediately completed. Checked the notifications and Hexos is reading a completed job from Truenas, however going into the logs it's actually failing due to not having the most recent truenas version. With no way to update from Hexos right now it's caught in a weird communication loop, any idea when and how to keep everything up to date and why it's giving this misread error of complete instead of failed? -
Hi Duncan! I believe that community involved/led app curation is planned, but it is not available yet, as we are still kind of early in the development cycle.

Hi, I don't know if it's related, but I wanted to install Transmission, and it wasn't working on the version of TrueNAS I was on (Dragonfish I think), other apps were also not updating (Jellyfin, Filebrowser), so I updated TrueNAS to 24.10.2..2 and now deck.hexos.com/dash is showing server not available even though I can access all the shares through SMB and everything looks normal on TrueNAS including Transmission install and update of other apps.

What the title says, mostly been using TrueNas Scale directly but i still like having the HexOs dashboard available so i was wondering if the folder that show in Settings -> Locations do anything for performance/storage or if its just suggested locations for your files.
