  2. Absolutely. That is 100% doable.
  3. no worries Biem, moved you to the right spot So seems like you have a fairly common use case withI he addition of game servers. The requirements for game servers do differ depending on game and the scale (like if you plan to make a sever say 100+ will join) so you may want to look up that part yourself As for the rest you should easily get by with some of the cheaper intel cpus available something like an intel i5 8400 or 8500 should be more than strong enough those intel cpus have integrated gpus so you don't have to spend extra on a graphics card and they support intel quick sync which just means they are great for plex. Make sure any motherboard you get does not have a realtek nic (network interface card), you can usually find out on the motherboard webpage or on the pcpartpicker page for the motherboard. for cases i like recommending the jonsbo n4 since its a fairly compact case that has 6 hdd bays and a relatively good value. The downside with the n4 is that it will only fit smaller sized power supplies and motherboards which may cost more than full size. for you boot drive i suggest getting a cheap and small ssd. any space left over on it after the os is installed cannot be used. I would suggest no less than 16gb of ram for you. now depending on your budget you could get a stronger cpu or more ram.
  4. I use FeedFlow on my android phone. I see TrueNAS has some alternatives as well though I have no experience with them so that's next after the ARR series of apps.
  5. While not a buddy backup I hope the second license can be used to build a "regular" backup NAS system. I've already got two backups on external HDD media but they are so SLOW.
  6. Hi there, Idk if this is the right place where to post this but here i am Im new to all this but i want to build a homeserver but dont know what specs it needs. Things i want to use the homeserver for: - Running Plex for movies and series - Storing family photos - Running gameserver for friends - Running home assistant - running hexos ofcourse But my question is what specs do i need im willing to use secondhand stuff and im looking for something that i dont have to upgrade for some time except the amount of storage

  8. Wahoo! This is great news! Thanks for the update, i'm really excited to hear how the local UI has been coming along! I'm also really surprised to learn my presumption of how the Command Deck works was completely wrong. I thought deck.hexos.com loaded an application into my browser's cache and then communicated to the NAS locally. I didn't realise it was actually sending calls to a central server. I've been turning on my home VPN for no reason! I suppose having to be on the same network as the HexOS box during first setup / "first flight" preconceived some notions. Doesn't that mean that I can access my NAS from anywhere in the world though? And, say... anyone else who gets hold of my credentials? Do y'all have plans for enabling/forcing 2fa for the command deck? I'm kinda uncomfortable learning my box of drives can be interacted with from off network, and the only thing stopping anyone is a single factor of authentication. It's not like I can block the HexOS API address at my router firewall level either, since the Local Command Deck is not currently planned to have the same functionality as the cloud Deck. Am I understanding that right?
  9. We know about this problem all-too-well. The VM features will come in layers, but our plan is to try and get ahead of those kinds of problems by detecting hardware changes and automatically adjusting device ID mappings to your VMs before they start. This still needs a lot of R&D work and there are lots of potential gotchas, but I bet we can address a lot of common scenarios like what you've described. It gets more tricky when you have multiple GPUs in a system of the same make/model, as it's hard to know which one is which for assignment to VMs. I'd say that's a problem for after the initial VMs feature release for us to investigate further. Ultimately there will be some limits to what we can do, but we're going to do this as best as is humanly possible.
  10. Correct. The additional licenses is for users that want to setup multiple systems of their own, not for buddy backups.
  11. Ooh the VM stuff sounds great! I've setup a SteamOS system instead of Windows, Exactly like the blog suggested, already! But it's been a pain managing it so looking forward for that to be easier! As an aside my PCI IDs haven't been stable adding/removing NVME drives on a consumer Motherboard, meaning I have to fix the VM every time I change unrelated hardware. So that could be a thorn in a curated approach when you get around to it.
  12. It sounds like the additional licenses wouldn't really work for a buddy backup use case, because there wouldn't be much of a way to separate the systems without some kind of licence transfer. Is that correct?

  15. At this time the recommended way to update the path is to uninstall and reinstall but you shouldn't lose any data if you uncheck remove app settings and data.
  16. Hi, to update qbittorrent to use the new download path location, do we have to uninstall and reinstall qbittorrent or is there another way?
  17. I missed the RSS train back in the day, I was just getting into tech at that point and it didn't seem useful, but I'm curious to look into it now that I'm older and have a lot more media I want to keep track of. @Todd Miller Do you have a favorite reader?
  18. I believe the distinction is that Buddy backups, etc, will need to connect to the cloud for configuration, but not for ongoing use. I can see how that could be confusing for some people.
  19. Def not cloud only. If your isp/network supports peer to peer, we can coordinate that and then get out of the way. That is what's included in a lifetime license. If we end up having to relay traffic for some users, that will require a subscription as we will have to pay for the relay traffic, but obviously it will still be encrypted.
  20. Buddy backups looks like it'll cloud only. I hope this is just for coordination once configured the cloud shouldn't be involved.
  21. My fault. I dropped the ball on this one. I'll circle back to it next week to make sure we get it addressed. I know you aren't the only RSS user out there 😉
  22. Did this go anywhere? Now that infor is coming fast and furious I like to use a RSS reader to keep up.

  24. Another mid-quarter update featuring: New curated app installations Update to the qBittorrent installation Read more about it on our docsite here at Command Deck Update - November 25, 2025 NOTE: This update was applied automatically. You may need to clear your cache.
  25. Great to see the progress being made compared to the early launch last year, I'm exited to see where it goes with the new upcoming roadmap. While I'll personally will be waiting till a few more curated apps will be available (such as Kometa and Bazarr) it seems at least a good solid foundation will be standing with the 1.0 launch. Keep it up guys!

  28. First a short story I was wondering if there was a way HexOS could keep older versions of Apps so when someone inevitably breaks a build we can revert. This might (idk I'm not that smart) have helped with the immich upgrade too?
